Welcome to Cahir
As one of the county’s designated heritage towns, Cahir is a popular town for tourists and locals, with Cahir Castle as its focal point. Built on the banks of the Suir, the beautifully-preserved defense castle is open daily to the public.
Situated on the River Suir with the Galty Mountains to the West, the Knockmealdowns to the South, the Comeraghs to the South-East and Slievenamon to the East, the area around Cahir offers a large amount of rich and varied scenery.
Cahir is a centrally located at the junction of the M8 and N24 routes. Its within easy access of all major Irish cities, ports and airports by road, bus and rail. It is an ideal touring base for exploring Tipperary, adjoining counties and further afield.
